The Anthropophytoaquatic device shows and deciphers the existing relations between humans and other-than-humans at the Domaine of Boisbuchet. This is the result after staying for a week in residency at the Domaine of Boisbuchet for being selected in the Boisbuchet Residency Award 2022.
Using only the surplus materials from the summer workshops at the Domaine, the device is assembled to talk about the importance of water, plants and humans to maintain the Domaine of Boisbuchet working and inspiring other architects, designers and artists to imagine alongside nature. Wood, glass bottles, ropes and tubes are put together to create a system thro ugh which water boiled with beetroot flows in order to fertilise the surrounding plants and materialise the interspecies stories defining the land. Not only the materials were reused, but also the lessons taught at the workshops, for the knots used were found among the leftovers and carefully untied in order to reproduce the exact same technique.
The wooden structure is built with wood sticks and branches tied together and the aquatic system is made of holed glass bottles that are hung with ropes and connected to each other with plastic tubes. The beetroot water is poured into the highest bottle and then fills the rest of the bottles until it reaches the end of the circuit, where it can be dropped on the ground to water the plants. The whole device can be easily dismounted and taken to different places to spread the nutrients found in the fertilizing water.
